Brief Description: Gussets, Forward bulkheads, Gear attach web
I continued working on the forward fuselage today. I made the F-684 gussets. The gussets needs to fit on one side of the firewall angle and on the other side of the engine mount bracket and needed to be fit perfectly.....No problem. The next item was the gear attached web. I had a problem with this...I could not figure out where to place this. I knew it was either the second or third line of holes....well, I decided the best guess was the second line of holes. I checked the web and other builder's site and found out I was absolutely....WRONG! I will need to remake the support angles and order 2 new gear attach webs....I guess I could use the ones I have, but I think the extra row of holes would weaken it and I think its better to replace the two pieces and not take any chances...besides, they are not going to cost more than a couple of bucks each. I next attached the forward bulkhead and clecoed it in place. Tomorrow I will begin work on the rudder and brake pedals.
The G-684 gusset in place. I will match drill the vertical part on the angle when I remove the skins.
This shows the Gear attach web and the line wrong holes...they need to be one row to the right.
