Step 1 … Place 1/2 of the U-1017B Gear Leg Fairing Hinge into the U-1017A Gear Leg Fairing. Now I marked the location of the hinge inside the fairing. See figure 1 for details. Step 2 … I took the hinges apart and position the hinge inside of the tailing edge of the Gear Leg Fairing and clamp the edges. Drill with a #40 drill bit the previously marked drill hole positions. Step 3 … Removed the U-1017B Gear Leg Fairing Hinge from the U-1017A Gear Leg Fairing and deburred the hinge holes. Placed the hinge back into the Gear Leg Fairing and clecoed every other hole and counter sank the thin fiberglass fairing holes, using the hinge for support backing, for AN426AD3-3.5 rivets. Then removed the clecos and placed them into the counter sunk holes and then counter sunk the remaining holes. Now I opened up the trailing edge of the U--1017A Gear Leg Fairing and riveted the U-1017B Gear Leg Fairing Hinge to the U-1017A Gear Leg Fairing using AN426AD3-3.5 rivets and repeated for the other side of the hinge and the right fairing. Then I trimmed the hinge and hinge pin as specified in figure 3.
