Brief Description:  Rear Wheel Fairing back into place and Nut Extens

SECTION 48-07
Nov. 1 to 4th 2010
Step 1 … After placing the Rear Wheel Fairing back into place be sure that the surface is parallel to the outboard end of the Nut Extension and after placing the AN970-04 Washer protected by clear tape acting as a release agent. Then I applied candle wax to the HW LP24693C296 Screw and U-1004B Extension Screw Hole to prevent the flox/epoxy mixture from adhering to the surface. Now I mixed up some epoxy/flox to a peanut butter consistency and applied to the area as described in figure 1. “Building Up Fairing at Axle Extension”. Allow the mixture to harden and then remove the Rear Wheel Fairing.
Step 2 … I Final Drilled using #19 the four nutplates screw holes in the U-1010-L/R Main Wheel Fairing Bracket. Then I Final Drilled #40, counter sink and deburr the nutplate attach holes as shown in figure 2, “Attaching Nutplates to Bracket”.
Step 3 … I mated together the two Front and Rear Wheel Fairing and Final Drilled the four Wheel Bracket Attachment points on the side of the Wheel Fairings. Then I located a counter sink and sunk the #19 holes to accept AN507C832R8 screw. Now I drilled with a #30 sixe drill bit three of the seven #40 attachment screw holes axial around the where the Wheel Fairing join. And I added three K1000-06 nutplates in the usual way.
Step 4 … Reassemble the fairings halves and I did Step 3 on the remaining four #40 holes. Then I counter sunk all seven #30 holes to accept a AN507C632R8 stainless steel screw.
Step 5 … Now I attached the completed U-1057A L/R Front and Back Wheel Fairings with stainless Steel screws. Also, not wanting to remove the Wheel Fairings every time I need to check the tire for inflation pressures I was thinking of adding a door with flush Camlocks similar to the Oil Door but for various reasons I have decided to just drill a 1.5 inch hole and add a removable hole plug.
Time about 5 hours.
