Brief Description: painted WD-1031 Axle Flange onto the Nose Gear Leg
SECTION 46-06 Engine Mounting and Landing Gear
Sept 30th, 2010
Step 1… I slid the newly painted WD-1031 Axle Flange onto the Nose Gear Leg Spindle and after final drilling inserted a AN5-21 bolt, AN960-516 washer and AN365-524 nut and torque to 140 in lbs. Then after greasing slid the Nose Fork Assembly, two K2750-0-219 Belleview Washers cupped together so that only the edges touch each other’s and a 5710-243-060 Washer onto the spindle and finally secured with a MS-21025-24 Nut . Step 2 … For this step I need to purchase a scale that would be capable of pulling 26 pound. I locate what I need for $40.00 at the local Tractor Plus Store in Warner Robins. The instructions say to tie a safety wire through the end of the Nose Fork and tighten the MS-21025-24 Nut until it begins to rotate at 26 lbs. After I accomplished this I secured with a MS-24665-360 cotter pin. Step 3 .. Located the front Nose Wheel and Tire Assembly and the removed and greased the bearings fully and placed the bearing back into the race. Step 4 … I placed the U-1009 Aluminum billet Axle into the bearings. Then I slid the U-1023 Spacers on both ends of the axle. Now I bolted the Nose Wheel and Tire Assembly to the Axle and Spacers Assemblies with the appropriate hardware and torque to 190 in/lbs. Step 5 … After locating the four J-11968-14 Nose Gear Elastomers or Rubber Donuts ( Note: these are also used on a Mooney 20) I slid them onto the Shaft of the WD-1016 Nose Gear Assembly and carefully placed the assembly into the WD-1001-D1 Engine Mount as shown in figure 3, Installing the Nose Gear Link Assembly. Now I slid the VA-143 Bushing in to the nose gear link assembly and bolt with the appropriate hardware and torque to 500 inch/pound!!!! And secure with a MS-24665-283 cotter pin.
Time about 4 hours because of interruption and I was working slowly.
