Brief Description: Mounting Main Tires and Brake Mount Assembly to A
SECTION 46-05 Engine Mounting and Landing Gear
Sept 28th, 2010
Step 1, I located and slid the U-1005 Spacers onto the left and right Brake Mount Assembly axle and then one of the Main Wheel and Tires carefully over the spindle. Then I tightened the U-1004A Axle Nut until finger tight and practiced spinning the tire for the video pictures that I have been creating while building the X-10.
Step 2, Then after tighten (hand) tight I spun the tire and checked for shimmy and wobble or any lateral movement. Located some tape and marked the top of the nut and counted the turns as I unscrewed the nut. I did this a couple of times and I counted 9.25 turns until tight enough. Then removed the nut and the left Main Wheel and Tire. Now carefully screw back on the U-1004A Axle Nut and count exactly 9.25 turns. Then marked with a center punch and carefully drilled a 1/8 inch hole through the axle shaft. Removed and deburred the two holes and repeated the entire procedure for the right landing gear leg.
Step 3 Bolted the U-1004B Nut Extension to the U-1004A Axle Nut with a AN4-6A bolt, AN970-4 washer, and another AN960-416 washer as shown in figure 2. After drilling a 5/64 inch hole through the end of the AN4-6A bolt and through the U-1004B Nut Extension and install a MS24665-153 cotter pin through the hole.
Step 4, Reinstall the Main Wheel and Tires Assembly and then the U-1004A Axle Nut, then secure the U-1004A Axle Nut with an MS-24665-360 cotter pin passing through the axle.
