SECTION 43 CABIN COVER Page 43-8 Steps 1 to 4

Step 1, I located the WD-1043 Center Cabin Brace that I had previously Final Drilled with a #12 drill bit the four holes and trimmed slightly the steel rudder or tab on the opposite end. Locate a piece of .032 scrap aluminum and place in between the F-1071 Fwd Top Skin and the brace. The purpose of the .032 inch gap is for clearance of the leather glare shield covering that fits over the X-10 upper dash area.

Step 2, Inserted the tab or rudder end into the slot of the F-1071 Fwd Top Skin as far as it would go.

Step 3, After finding the center for the top brace and clamp the opposite end of the WD-1043 Center Cabin Brace. Match-Drill #12 the four holes in the top of the WD-1043 center Cabin Brace into the Cabin Cover. Then insert an AN3 bolt and nut to secure and hole in place then drill the other 3 holes.

Step 4, Match Drill #12 between the WD-1043 Center Cabins Brace the F-1044A Fwd Cabin Rib and the F-1044B Angle. Also because of the modification for the GSN-430 I cut away some of the center support rib and added an angle brace that also is match drill through the above. This extra precaution is necessary to prevent crushing the pilot / copilot in case the plane is rolled or flipped over. The fit a couple of temp AN3 bolts and nuts after drilling.

Time about 2 hour.
