Brief Description: Canopy final trimming-1st fitting
We put the canopy on the frame and carefully marked the cuts to be made on the sides of the canopy so that it fit inside the side bows of the frame. We then put duct tape to mark my cuts which I made with the pneumatic cut off wheel. It works great but takes more air than my compressor makes so I had to stop several times during these long cuts for the compressor to catch up. The left side was just a touch long so we took the canopy off and cut about 1.4" toward the front of the bow. It now fits better and I think that we will be able to start drilling the holes in the canopy and rails Monday! See Image #1&2. We just had to try the canopy on to see how it fit on the air plane. All seems to fit well. We will probably have to cut some off of the bottom of the front bow to lower the frame some but we will do this when have the wind screen mounted and can match it to the main canopy. Vern Darley comes tomorrow for another EAA inspection and to give me some more transition training
