Brief Description:  Tapped wing tie down/ Engine mount mounted

Last night, I asked about my difficulty threading wing jack points in tie down receptacle and found that they had not been tapped on several of the folks that responded. I double checked this this morning and found that it was true in my case. Therefore, I tapped them and my problem was corrected. As soon as Keith Thompson, the A&P mechanic that is advising us, helps us jack up the plane using his wing jacks, we will mount the wheels and drill the axles. We will use the jacks just to lift up the plane and then we will put a higher sawhorse under it.... While we are waiting on the wing jacks, we decided to start mounting the engine mount. We drilled out the holes in the firewall to match the engine mounts. Our bit was dull so I had to make another trip to Eldridge Hardware for a new Cobalt drill and it zipped right through. After we got the 4 corner bolts in we noticed that we were standing off 3/16ths. of an inch in the bottom center of the mount. On close inspection, we noted that one of the nutplates put on in the Philippines to mount the auxiliary fuel pump was causing the problem. Tomorrow, we will try to file off the bolt and maybe a little of the nutplate and it should correct the problem. This was Claude's suggestion and it surely relieved me to think that I didn't have to remount the fuel pump!
