Brief Description: Empennage end caps fitted & fairing cut to size
All the glass work on the empennage and wing tips yesterday of course had set up over night and looked OK so today we sanded the pieces down and pop riveted the tail caps. We then cut the empennage fairing down along the scribed lines put there by the factory. We had to install 5 more nut plates on the fuse to be able to anchor the front of the fairing down. Tomorrow we will drill and tap the longeron to install screws to hold the fairing down. This is in addition to the nut plates I installed on the vert and horz stab last week. The tail looks good with the glass in place. I still haven't pop riveted the end caps on the elevator yet because I am not sure if I will need access to add more lead to the tip for balancing. I can't find where it discusses balancing the elevator....I have ordered 2 AN3-56 bolts to replace the 4 short bolts on the brake pedals. I have read that the brake pedals tend to stick and drag with the shorter bolts. I will replace them when the bolts get here from Aircraft Spruce.
