Brief Description: New elev up stop/vert stab on/Check by A&P
I decided to make a new elev up stop and in Image #1 you can see it installed with GREAT edge distance. In Image #2 you can see that we then reinstalled the vert stab this time with the end cap in place and the elevator and horz stab end caps in also. They have been through final sanding. I then found Keith Thompson, the A&P who has been so nice to help us out & asked would he check out the tail feather installation. He said that things looked OK but pointed out to us that we have not installed the last 2 skin rivet rows that anchor the rear bulkhead. Of course he was right. To drive these rivets, the vert stab had to come off again. We looked through the manual and found that these rivets were to be installed before the fuse was turned over way back yonder (if we had a slow build but the Phillipinos had missed them I guess). We had assumed that they were left out on purpose for something to be installed later but as always, Keith was right........ The vert stab was removed AGAIN. I am taking Friday off for a long weekend to be with Momma. We will drive rivets Monday. I am getting tired off taking the tail apart. Maybe the next time we install it will be the last time.
