Brief Description:  Fabricated fuel lines

Boy! Was it cold today! It was 29 degrees and there was a 10-knot wind whipping through the hangar. We intended to just stay a short time and finish up some odds and ends but stayed 3 hours and even rode our bikes 3 miles. We drilled out the lt. wing skins for #6 screw and dimpled them for the tips...... We installed 2 single wing nut plates to put on the wing root fairing..... After reading on the Air Force Forum how easy the fuel lines installed with spring tube benders, I got a set from Avery's. This makes 3 different types of tube benders in the tool chest. However after looking at the plans, we decided it couldn't be done even with our new toy!! We decided to give it one try before closing up and going home to a nice warm fire. Much to our surprise, the bends were a piece of cake! (See Image #1). Image #2 shows the line exiting from the fuse and flared ready to hook up to the tanks when we put the wings back on next week....... The TWO lines from the selector to the tanks were so easy that I decided I could do a better job with this spring bender on the line from the selector to the auxiliary pump. It was not as easy as the other lines but the end product was better than the first one that I did several weeks ago. I now have better clearance off the floor at the pump and the line runs down the center of the tunnel.
