Brief Description:  Took off wings/Drilled & riveted nut plates

We had planned to start on the tail feathers today, but, much to our surprise, there were enough people out at the airport on the day after Thanksgiving to help us remove the wings. We really hated to remove them since we had gotten used to the way our 417CT looked like an airplane! ..... I drilled out the 1000 nut plates on the access doors of the left wing and riveted 1100 (dimpled) nut plates in their place (Image #2). I had not realized there were different kind of nut plates for #8 screws until I had riveted the incorrect type on all the access doors of both wings. I am getting to be an expert at drilling out rivets. I am not sure whether this is a good thing or not........ We drilled, counter-sunk and riveted the AN4 nut plates to the left fuel tank bracket (Image #3). We had to find short arm nut plates to fit on the bracket. ..... We again agonized about our wire runs. We decided to do a major run to the rear of the fuse by going under the armrest. However the armrest is not very robust so we went to Lowe's to get some 3/4 in angle to reinforce it before doing the wiring run.
