Brief Description:  Tanks closed!!!!!

We got to work early this morning and spent a little time making a shim to go under the left step to strenghten it a bit We then got down to the main project of closing the fuel tanks. Claude mixed up some Proseal. Then we riveted the antirotation brackets in place after applying Proseal to the rivets and around the rivets. We then cleaned the end plates with MEK and put them in place, covering the nutplates and screws with Proseal and torquing down the screws. It was on of the hottest days we have had this summer and we were afraid the Proseal would cure prematurely so we could not stop. We then put Proseal under the gaskets holding the float and fuel senders in place and screwed them down thus sealing the fuel tanks for the LAST time, I hope. We had Proseal over every thing so the tools etc. had to be cleaned up. It was only then that we could stop for a rest. It was one of the hottest days of the summer and we were forced to work without stopping for almost 4 hours. I was bear caught and had sweat pouring off me. My sweat rag was soaked as were my clothes and cap. Claude and I both collapsed in our chairs in our little office and sucked down Gatoraid to try to replentish our electrolytes and fluids. After resting for about a half hour, we went for our daily bike ride and then came home. This is a milestone. It will be a while before we have to mess with Proseal again and I am glad. That stuff is MESSY.
