Brief Description: Rt. step clecoed up--Rt gear mount bolted to cente
Over the weekend, I "altered" the pop rivet puller using a cutoff wheel. It would now go under the 705 bulkhead and I was able to pull one of the 2 rivets there we have not been able to drive. As soon as it is safe for Claude to start riveting again after his cataract, we will drive that last rivet with the new offset rivet extension.......Today we drilled the last 5 holes in the left gear mount. The drill was getting dull and took some time. Claude is seen stretching over the side of the fuse putting these nuts on. We then torqued the nuts and moved on to the left mount. We put it in place and torqued up the bolts in the spar with just a little difficulty. We had to torque the bolt heads so we lubed the bolt shanks with boelube and torqued to the top of the allowed range. Tomorrow, we go on to the dread mount extension and drill these holes using a template. This worked very well on the left side but it worries me. Today we also finished drilling in assembly the left external step to the skin and clecoed it in place. We should get the plastic bushings in the mail tomorrow and be able to finish the steps soon.
