Brief Description:  Cut hole for and fit left landing gear bracket

We cut out template and marked the hole in the fuselage skin so we could cut out the hole for the landing gear bracket from the bottom skin rather than from inside the fuse. It made the work of fitting the bracket much easier and we were able to get the bracket in without too much trouble. It seemed to fit well. We can bolt these brackets in and mount the landing gear legs if we want to. That will begin to make it look more like a real airplane. ---------- We then tried to figure out a way to drive those last 4 rivets in the 705 bulkhead but couldn't seem to be able to do so with either the regular AN4 rivet or a pulled rivet. I talked to Van's and they seemed to think it would be OK to leave those rivets out since there is not as much strain in that area with a slider canopy as with a tip-up. The threaded drill bit I ordered from Aircraft Spruce had the wrong size thread so I have ordered several sizes of these bits for the angle drill from Brown Tools. I have also ordered several different shaped bucking bars and rivet bars so maybe with one we can drive those rivets. I just don't like leaving out rivets. --------- We will take the day off tomorrow while Claude has cataract surgery. We probably need a brake anyway. If Claude is out for several days, I think that I can do a little work towards wiring the wing.
