Things were going pretty well until I tried to put the machined axles into the painted receiver. I did notice that was likely to be a problem and got a dremmel sander after some of the paint and applied a liberal amount of lubricant - 2 hours later and a bolt stripped of all threads - I finally was able to mate, lineup and finish.
One of the modifications that I saw Tom Bowden do, was to put a 1/4" sleeve into his main struts, which I copied. I was able to cycle both sides of gear to verify proper action and test the collapsable tailgear - One of the wires was not on the pulley properly and tried to bind - I was able to fix pretty quick.
I am complete with the landing gear mechanism and wheels, I ordered the control board for the gear from PA. Mark also recently posted a possible fix to gear flexing which I'm going to copy.
Next is getting into the cockpit and starting on some of those controls. I also ordered a ground terminal to start a little of the wiring - grounds and probably gear wiring.
