Brief Description:  Engine Baffles 5

I was out of town for the holidays, so no work for a few days.

Back to the baffles. Today I did the final fit and trim of the baffles to get my 3/8" clearance all around. I still need to trim to match the upper cowl intake ramps, I'll do that a bit later.

Today I worked to fit the oil cooler the the left rear baffle. Back when I was fitting the baffles, I added a doubler to the #4 cyl side baffle to reinforce the corner the cooler mounts to. The baffles are known for cracking in the area.

I also modified the reinforcement that Vans includes in the baffle kit. The is a braket they added above the cooler outlet that ties the baffle side the the back and rivets to the oil cooler doubler. The way this bracket is designed it limited how high I could mount the cooler (the higher the better). I cut the formed fkanges off the bracket and riveted on flanges pointing up rather than down. This let me move the cooler 1/2" higher and doubled up the material and the flange side of the bracket.
