Brief Description:  Wing to Fuselage Attachment 2

Today I moved the wings and fuselage out to the driveway. With help from my wife we installed the wings. I leveled the fuselage and then started working out the sweep of the wings and making sure thay were square to the fuselage. We had the pull the right wing a few times so I could file a tiny bit of material from the rear spar carrythrough in the fuselage that was hitting the inboard rib of the wing and causing some forward sweep. When all was said and done I ened up with both wings having ~1/16" forward sweep (at least as accurately as you can measure with plumb bobs and string on a breezy day. The wings are square to the fuselage within 1/32" of eachother.

I rechecked the level of the fuselage and set the angle of incidence of the wing using the spacers I made. I adjusted the vertical position of the rear spar in the carrythrough to set the AoI and clamped it. I then checked the sweep and squareness of the wings. I re-checked the level of the fuselage again and then rechecked the AoI, sweep, and square of the wings again. The right wing has about 0.010" of twist and the left ~0.015". I averaged out the twist to the position one rib outboard of the fuel tank (about 60% span less the wingtips).

With the AoI set I pilot drilled 1/8", using the drilling block I stepped up to 3/16", 1/4", 9/32, the I reamed to final size of 0.3120 (0.0005 undersize) for a close tolerance fit.
