Brief Description:  Wing to Fuselage Attachment 1

Today was spent preping the plane for fitting the wings and drilling the rear spar. I stripped out most of the forward interior and made a to-do list for the work. My shop isn't big enough to house the plane with the wings attached so I have to move it into the driveway, put everything together and then take it back apart and put it away. I would like to have it assembled for a solid week so I can do all the rigging and make all the fairings. Unfortunately, I only have a day so I will get done what I can and do it again at a later date.

I collected all the tools I would need (Drill bits, reams, hardware, ect). I also made the spacer block for the level to set the angle of incidence to +1 degree. The plans call for a spacer 3.03 inches long to go between the level and the rear spar while the level rests on the main spar. Since my good level has a rubber bumper on the end I didn't like the idea of setting that end on the spar so I made the rear spacer 3.28" and a 0.25 spacer for the main spar (sorry, didn't take a picture of the spacer).

I also made a drilling block for the various step sizes I would use for the rear spar. The block is intended to keep the bit square with the spar while drilling. The area is tight so I had to keep it small.

I was going to make the aileron pushrods and rig the ailerons while I was at it. When I went to prep the pushrod tubes I found an extrusion error in the tube to it is trash. I guess I will have to rig the ailerons next time.
