Brief Description:  Elevator Pushrods 1

Now the the empennage is ready to fit to the fuselage I decided to do a bit of pre-work. Once the control pushrods are assembled, there is no way to perform maintenance on the interior of the rods or to easily inspect them. It is important that the inside of the push-pull tubes be cleaned and primed before they are assembled.

Today I prepped the control tubes by drawing a section of green scotchbrite pad through with a string. I then did the same with a rag with acetone to clean the surface. I capped one end of each tube and poured in some primer (used a color I was testing for the interior paint but decided not to use). I rotated and tilted the tube to get complete coverage and the poured out the excess. Once the tubes had dryed for a little bit I repeated the process to get good covereage. I removed the caps and stood the tubed on-end to dry.
