My familty is visiting for the week and today my Dad came out to the shop to help out. We did some practive riveting on scrap for fun and then got back to work on the tail. We fitted the elevators and for proper travel and gaps. I then trimmed the rear spar flange for control-horn cleance. We made a 1/2 turn adjustment to the rod-ends and then on at a time we drilled the hole for the center support using a drill bushing. With both control horns drilled to the center support we bolted everything in place and fit the spacers (washers) around the center support. All the parts slid together great, just the usual fun getting the washes in around that center bearing.
It looks like the center shaft of the bearing is off a little bit (see picture 3) so I will probably put the thin washer between the bearing and the large washer on the right side to provide better clearance. With the bolts torqued, everything moves with no binding and the gabs are good all around.
