Brief Description:  Seat Pans 3

Today I finished making and installing the second gusset for the F-623 rib (see Boarding Step 4 entry for details). I then moved on to making the seat belt cutouts in the seat pan. I first mounted the seat belt mounts to F-605 with 3/16 clecos and made sure they were square and properly spaced. I then carfully measured the distance to the front and rear edges (along the plane of the seat ribs) of the mount to the rear edge of the F-605 flange. I then clamped some angle to the seat rib to keep in straight and measured the didtance from one of my drilled holes in the rib to the belt mount. I drew these dimensions out on the seat pan and made the cutouts. This method worked perfectly. All four cutouts were made and the pans fit-checked.

I then put a 1/8" spacer between each set of mounts with a 1/4" bolt to hold everything in allignment. I replaced the clecos holding the mounts to F-605 with the correct bolts and torqued them to spec. I inspection-striped the nuts since I don't intend to remove these again.
