I recently decided that the cutout made in the F-623 rib for the boarding step made the assembly to flexible for my liking. With a chunck on the flange removed (to clear the step torque tube) the rib can bend at the cutout and may cause a slight bump in the skin. I decided to make some doublers and rivet them to the flange to prevent that flexing. The doublers are made from 0.040 2024-T3. They came out pretty good and do the job very well. They do not contact the baggage floor and leave a good amount of room around the torque tube.
