Brief Description:  Assist handles

I decided I needed these handles after I flew in Pierre Smiths RV7A. Its not that it is really hard to get in and out of an RV7, but with I prosthetic leg, it makes thing interesting. I have seen these handle before and found them at www.aircraftextras.com I mounted mine a little further from the center then they show in their pictures so you can grab them once on the step. Installation is really easy but drilling the holes in exactly the place takes many measurements to get them in the right spot. I drilled #40 pilot holes first, from each side and then dilled through with a # 30 to get it parallel to the longeron. Then it’s a easy task to drill the inside holes with a Unibit to 5/16” and the forward hole the 3/16” for a #10 screw. I bought some low profile button head SS hex drive screws, which worked out well. The sliding canopy misses the hands by ¼”.
