This is the outside air temperature sensor. GRT sends you the prob with a clip for mounting, but it is really a Mickey Mouse way to mount it. So, after talking to Ed Booth, my favorite EAA designee, he suggested using an AN bulkhead fitting and putting it through the NASA fresh air inlet. It was a trip to the lathe and some designing on the fly, but the results are self evident and it should be able to handle heavy weather. I think the only downside may be for it to take a little longer to get to temperature, but who cares, its water proof.
