Brief Description: Final installation of the contol sticks
Today I finished the other gear mount and main fuel line. There are no pictures because it is the same build as Monday, just the other side. I also went to work on the final installation of the control sticks. I decided to turn bushings on the lathe, rather then using multiple washes on each stick. Not only are they lighter, the assembly easier and the spacing can be made to the exact dimension required the fill he gaps. It is easy to see this in image 2 below. The main sticks are held in place with a bolt through a brass bushing and secured with a castle nut and cotter pin. This is to make sure this critical component does not come undone unless you pull out the cotter pin. The assembly works very smoothly and all of the bearings and bushing make the unit very precise. This is a really nice design that Van developed for the controls, robust and smooooooth.
