Brief Description:  Rudder cable installation

The rudder cable fairings I purchased from Avery Tools took some time to fit and install, but I think they add to the quality of the plane and well worth the $11. I also decided the cables needed a conduit in the cabin area for safety behind the upholstery and for wear abrasion. I looked on VAF and Matronics and it seemed like most builders are doing the same thing using very light and tough hot water tubing called (need to get the spec’s and name). I first bought 25 feet on a roll in red, this was a bad idea. I could not work out the curvature from the coiling. I went back to Lowe’s and found the white stuff in 10 foot lengths and used that instead. It also comes in blue for color coding. This is NOT PVC pipe which weights 3 times as much, is stiffer and not nearly as flexible, rather the same type pf material the Van uses on the exit sleeve already installed on the swaged cable. These pictures are pretty self explanatory, just take your time in filing out the cable exit to fit the fairing and the cable exit abrasion sleeve. I pop riveted it in place, incase I need to replace the cable in the future.
