Brief Description:  Left Gear Leg Fairing Part 5 do over

I decided to make the left leg fairing over and used the fairing from the right side while I’m waiting for the replacement from Vans. This time I did it my way instead of following the instructions. I used two ½” angles clamped on the trailing edge ¼” in on the fairing and then started drilling the hinge. The other change I made was to mount the hinge further forward by about 1/8”. This keeps more pressure on the trailing edge seem. Because of the taper in the fairing, the hinge needs to be in at least 5/8” from the finished trailing edge to have it to pull in the trailing edge properly. As you can see from the picture the trailing edge is now straight and the seam is tight. I will do the right one the same way, first cutting the faring to the template with excess on the trailing edge and mounting the hinge in 5/8”. It just works!
