Brief Description:  Mounting the cowl hinges

I choose to follow Vans recommendations on the cowl hinges. They are all attached with an epoxy/cotton fiber mix and then flush squeeze riveted in place. The technique I used was to put the epoxy mix on hinges and the cowl, cleco in place and rivet while the mixture is still wet. This means there is only enough time to do on hinge at a time and then mix up another batch. I though t about riveting after the epoxy mix had hardened, but then you have to re-drill the and possibly re-countersink the rivet holes. BTW, I did this in a 50 degree shop to slow the epoxy set times considerably. Then I came back after riveting and used acetone to clean up the unwanted epoxy that squeezed out. I still had to do some cleanup on the hinges where the pins are inserted, but nothing major. This all work well and I recommend this method completely.
