Brief Description:  Instrument Panel Mods

While working on wiring, and looking at how to wire the two radios to the GDU, learned that an audio panel is required. Here's the planning for the new audio panel. Removed the existing panel from the airframe. Fortunately, I had not riveted the panel to the fuse side panels; I only had to drill out the center (4) rivets of the panel flange. TO say this was a real bummer in a way is an understatement, this seems like a large step backward, but I know it's the 'right' thing to do.

The GMA 240 audio panel will be placed at the top of the avionics stack, but, checking for clearances shows the stack needs to come down as much as possible, which turns out to be .25 inches. I decide make some other changes which have been in the back of my mind.

• Eliminate the trim LED indicator, since this information is provided by the GDU.
• Replace the RCA flap switch with the Show Planes switch for the flap position system.
• Re-orient the ELT indicator/remote switch from horizontal to vertical.
• Re-Orient the circuit breaker spacing to 1" center to center for all 15 breakers.
