Finished attaching the Ceconite 101 fabric to the seat frame and added reinforcing strips.
I cut Ceconite strips to place around the openings in the seat fabric next to the places where the fabric didn't wrap the frame. There are big gaps on each side of the seat back where the strut attaches, and a hole at the rear of the seat bottom where the back hinges. I applied these to the fabric using the technique specified by Stewart Systems. I tried several glue application methods on test strips first. I found that applying a coat to the fabric. letting it dry, sticking the reinforcement to it, and then wiping the glue down through the strip to make the bond worked best. The glue can be heat-activated, but that's hard to do on top of fabric without shrinking too.
After getting the strips attached, I let them dry overnight. Then I shrinked the fabric the next day to tighten it. The results were excellent. I really like working with the Stewart System glue - it's not very messy, and it cleans up with a gum eraser (I used a sanding disk cleaner). It has a very low odor, and it is not smelly even then. No MEK or bad solvents.
