Brief Description:  Elevator Front Spars

I enlarged two of the #30 holes in one of the elevator front spars per the plans to 5/8 inches and 3/8 inches. I did this using my step drill. This became the front spar for the left side of the elevator.

The larger hole will eventually get a plastic snap bushing inserted. This hole will allow the wires for the trim tab motor to pass through. The smaller hole allows access for the trim motor bolt. When the elevator trim is engaged, the bolt moves in and out as the trim tab is moved up and down. The bolt needs a place to go when the elevator trim is adjusted. Without this hole, the trim motor bolt would contact the spar and limit how far the trim could be moved upward, and could also damage the trim motor and front spar.

I clecoed the front spars to the elevator left and right bottom skins to begin the test fit assembly of the elevator.
