I constructed four cradles based on the specs in the horizontal stabilizer plans. These will be used to hold the horizontal stabilizer in a vertical position while the parts are riveted together. They will be clamped to the workbench spaced about 24 inches apart.
The vertical pieces are 3/8 inch plywood. On the bottom of each cradle I bolted a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1/8 aluminum angle. The plywood was cut 10 inches wide by 15 inches high. I cut a template from 3/4 inch MDF scrap and used it to cut the four plywoord cradles using my router and flush trim bit. The inside edge of each cradle was lined with duct tape to protect the skins from getting scratched.
