Brief Description: Front Spar Modification - Step1
Even though there wasn't much to do in this step, it was the very first step in building my airplane. I wanted to include some pictures of this historic moment!
I clecoed the front spar doubler plate to the front spar and matched drilled #40 all the 3/32 holes, except for the one hole in the middle which was match drilled 1/4. This larger hole is used later when the vertical stabilizer is attached to the fuselage.
I trimmed the bottom of the front spar using my band saw to be flush with the doubler plate.
The bottom six #40 holes in both the front spar and the doubler plate were dimpled for AN426 flush rivets. The top four holes in the doubler plate will be riveted with AN470 universal head rivets and were not dimpled.
