I talked to Old Dominion on Monday 11/11 to work out the details of taking delivery of my Empennage kit from Van's. They said I could pick it up at their location on Tuesday, 11/12, or if I wanted it delivered, they would be in my area on Friday, 11/15. I asked about assistance unloading it if they delivered it to my house and she said the driver would help with a lift gate. Since the crate weighed over 200 lbs, that sounded better than trying to unload off my truck.
The driver was waiting at my house at 8 am on Friday after I returned from an early breakfast with some friends.
10 minutes later the crate was unloaded and sitting in my garage!
I inspected the crate and there was no evidence of damage or being turned on it's side or upside down. So I signed off on the delivery and the Old Dominion guy said good luck with my project and left.
A little later, with the help of a hammer and pry bar, I opened the crate to check out the contents. I was happy to see how well it was packed and organized. Eventually I unpacked everything and carried the parts and subkits into the house. The next step is to inventory and organize everything.
