Brief Description: Mount nutplates on fuselage tabs and canard
Prepared 1/4 in nutplates and wide area washers for installation onto tabs. Enlarged nut plate holes to 1/8 inch. Drilled corresponding holes in washers. Used 1/8 pop rivets and structural epoxy to install assembly onto fuselage tabs.
Installed nut plates inside tab of doghouse attach points using 3/32 pop rivets. Sanded edge of doghouse and part of canard down to raw fiberglass. Here I realized I should not have sanded the canard down as I removed about 1/8 inch deep of filler. Tried to fill the depression with tape as shown in image 3. I did not think the result would be very esthetically pleasing. Will wait until after I replace fill on canard to make fillet.
