Brief Description: Re-fabricated hinges for doubler.
As I was concerned about the fit of the large hinge to the doubler, I drilled out the rivets and removed it. I then fabricated a new one that has a slightly longer extra tab to fully align with the lower left edge of the doubler and also be long enough to utilize all of the rivet holes. The plans call for F-1201J to be 25.5 inches long, but that length seems to be a 1/4 to 1/2 inch too short to address the requirement of the plans. In any case, I reinstalled a new hinge and I am very pleased with the fit.
Also installed the last of the nutplates on the bottom side of the firewall and tapped all the nutplates on this piece. Finally, I applied another coat of red enamel paint to the antenna shelf and will add nutplates to it tomorrow and install it on the firewall. Nothing special about needing to paint it except for curb appeal!
