Brief Description: Carved forward control stick recess
Okay! I spent way to much time on this. I made a small rounnd router base for my Colt trim router. I then installed a 1/4 radius box core bit and adjusted the height to cut .45 inches deap. I measured from the router bit edge to the edge of the round router base. I multiplied this by two and then added this to the desired 7 inch diameter recess. This was 11.25 inches for my homemade router base and bit. I then cut a 11.25 inch hole is some 1/4 inch masonite to use a s router guide. I attached the router guide to the fuselage side using small nails. It was then quick work to cut an acurate circle of the required depth with a nice radius on the bottom. I then hand shaped the outer taper. Came out nice but I bet Mike Melville could do an equivalent shaping in five minutes.
