Manual Reference:  Section 27
Brief Description:  Began assembling fuel filter

I could never figure out why the first few steps in Section 27, which is actually part of the Finishing Kit, notes that parts are included in the Powerplant kit. What's the point? If we don't have the parts, how can we work on it?

Not only that, why are SOME components sent with the finishing kit? Why not just send THOSE parts with the powerplant kit so we're not likely to have lost them?

Now that the powerplant kit has arrived, I was able to go back and start on those items that I couldn't do before (the rest of the section, such as fuel lines, I was able to complete last year).

And then it becomes somewhat obvious: the parts are actually ROTAX parts, not parts that Van's fabricates or ships. They're in the engine crate, which, I think, ships from Germany self-contained to Van's, which then ships them on, I suppose, without even opening that crate.

That doesn't explain why some parts are sent in the finishing kit, but it at least answers part of the mystery.

Anyway, I located the parts and started assembling. But I've got an order of TiteSeal (the replacement for the Fuel Lube/EX Turn which we used to use on fuel fittings that isn't due for two days yet so there really wasn't much I could do.

The nice little ROTAX box that contains the fuel filter is eventually thrown out as the guts of it end up getting mounted on the back of the baggage bulkhead.

The plans for this section have been updated (May 20, 2020 is the latest) for some pages so I'm going slow and being extra careful that I'm operating on the latest information.
