Completed the fabrication to the new mounting brackets for the GTR20 Remote Comm & the GMA245 Audio Panel. My initial plan was to recess the two units into a "well". However, as I began the disassembly, I determined that with a redesign of the mount the extra work to create the well would not be needed.
The new mount eliminates the bulky central support between the units. To marry them I utilized Garmin's existing (unused) #6 rivnut locations on the GTR20's box. I also added a central support bar that is riveted midway to the base angle that the GTR20 sits on. The GMA245 is so light that I elected to just cantilever it off the GTR20.
In the end, a better plan & now - no canopy clearance issues.
