Brief Description:  E-Mags Reinstalled, etc.

From 12/15 - 12/23

Installed the voltage regulator & married the connections to it. I elected to run "three" separate 18 gauge ground wires from the terminal grounding strip to the voltage regulator & each EMAG. I have seen some builders use only one ground trunk line with off branches to these individual components, however, I elected to go for redundancy.

Received the repaired EMAG back from Trent's shop in Texas & reinstalled the left unit. Finished the connection to both mags & rotated each to a position that facilitates tightening their individual mounting bolts. Torqued the mounting bolts to Lycoming's specifications; via the "3-Step" process.

Need to re-check the spark plug leads for proper orientation & then secure them. They will not be bundle. They will be separated by using a tie-wrap & a small section of nylon tubing.

EMAG's Note: "Leads should be kept separated. Do NOT bundle them together as is common with shielded aircraft wires, as this can cause them to be inductively coupled. Wire looms can be purchased at auto parts stores, but a simple separator can be fabricated out of tie-wraps and 1/4" segments of left over MAP sensor hose."
