Brief Description:  Ops.., A Repair is in Order...

I love my dogs - they rarely disappoint. Humans however...

A few months back it was moving day for the wings to go from the garage to the hangar. The rental truck, ramps, padding, etc. were all here but, not the neighbor who committed to assist; he was MIA.

Long story short – the left wing dropped out of the cradle when I wheeled it into the truck. My frustration in not having any assistance led me to forget to properly securing the wing to the cradle. The five inch drop to the concert caused the damage pictured below. However, in so many ways it could have been much worst.

A replacement rib is on hand so eighteen rivets will be drilled out to remove the damaged component. Once the old rib is removed the skin will be reshaped. The unsightly areas will then be sanded, polish & cleaned & the new rib will be coated with tank sealant & set in place. Once there, it will be riveted to the surrounding structure & finally, the outer skin will be repaired & prepped for priming.

A set-back, but everyday is a learning day…
