Jameson is still recovering from his total hip replacement surgery but has been feeling good enough lately to hang-out at KAKR.
Within the hangar, there are three sets of 8' dual-tube lights that are in dire need of updating. Since Jameson requires post-op monitoring, I decided to tackle a "'non-aircraft" project.
I purchased the required replacement LED tubes & associated tombstone connectors online & over the last few days spent time retrofitting the yellowish lighting. The task is straight forward & luckily, the learning curve is steep. However, climbing up & down a tall ladder, completely removing each fixture, disassembling, modifying, cleaning, re-assembling, etc. is time consuming. But, in the end, the results appear to be well worth the effort.
The last 8' light will be retrofitted over the weekend. An additional four each 2x4', 36,500 lumen lights will be installed; one now & three others sometime in the future. I like adequate lighting...
10/21 Update: Finished installing the third overhead fixture today. Onto one of the four 2x4', 36,500 lumen lights tomorrow.
10/22 Update: Installed 1ea 2x4', 36,500 lumen light.
