Brief Description:  Pitot Tube Installation & Captain, We've Got Press

I love the early mornings. During my military days, I looked forward to those "O-Dark-Thirty" missions that required the crew to be on the tarmac pre-dawn to ready the C-130 for her assigned task. Throughout my 25 years, 3,500+ flight hours & countless travels around the globe; the morning's sunrise has always delighted me. It still does.

Jameson & I arrived at the hangar & got right to work; well one of us anyway. Today was pitot tube insertion day. Surprisingly, everything went as planned & we now have an operating heated pitot tube. Of course, the device needs calibration, etc. but it's installed & ready to go.

I placed Jameson on lead & out of harm's way then cranked the engine over for about 20 seconds. Finally saw some oil pressure & noticed no leakage.

Vic Syracuse of Base Leg Aviation has aired part one of a three-part series on first starts & flights. I enjoy his expertise & his words are always educational. He may just be our DAR..!
