Brief Description: Right Wing's Optional Third Bay Access Panel...
Made the cut in the right wing for the optional third bay access panel. Went about it a little differently than I did cutting out the left wing's panel. This time I used a forstner bit as a template to mark the 1/8" guide hole & then used a step drill to work up to a 1/2" hole. The forstner bit has a central pin that aids in finding the initial drill point. This technique worked well & allowed for cutting closer to the index line. That, in return, expedited the clean-up process.
After the access cut-out hole was polished, I went ahead & set a few rivets at the spar. The access panels have proven to simplified my assembly process. I have no regrets adding them.
Today, Van's order with doublers, cover plates, nutplates, etc. arrived.
