Brief Description:  Finished Pitot Tube Installation...

As I sat back & looked over the wings for anything that needed additional work, I kept coming back to three electrical connections. Ironically, these were located on the pitot tube's remote box that I finished a few days prior. The three connections; power, ground & discrete were made with solder sleeves. Beautiful connectors, but they are permanent.

Once the bottom skins are installed, reconnecting these wires would not be all that easy to do. Granted, there is an access panel nearby, but ... So, I snipped off the solder sleeves & connected the three wires with knife splice disconnect terminals - covered with heat shrink. Now, should that system require replacement; it is just a simple task to disconnect & then reconnect the wiring.

Spent some time determining the “plan of attack” that I am going to use to rivet on the two bottom skins. It really is a two-man job but, I have heard that some assemblers have done it solo. I do see that the cradle will need to be elevated about 12-18 inches to allow for easier access to the inside as the skin is gentled pulled away from the wing. I am not overly comfortable doing this myself & it is probably wise to call in the troops for guidance. We will see…
