Brief Description:  It's Not Van's Fault...

During the early construction phase, I fabricated what I thought were a rather nice looking set of rudder stops & moved forward with mounting them to the fuselage. Several months later I was test fitting the empennage to the fuselage & was a bit puzzled as to why the rudder was slightly contacting the elevators. Knowing that there was a lot of tweaking to do & that nothing was firmly attached; I let my query go by the wayside.

Today, as I permanently attach the empennage; the error of my ways is staring me in the face. Options..?

Although I planned to install Flyboy Accessories' internal rudder stop as a backup to the stock stops, I did not want to leave my oversight unfinished. Removing the stock stops from the fuselage, re-fabricating & reinstalling; was in itself problematic. After several trials, I elected to simply modify Van's offset option & moved ahead constructing two 5/32" thick shims to beef-up the existing rudder stops.

The modified offset tabs are just about ready for installation. Once trimmed out they will function as a "backup" to Flyboy's rudder stop & I now have Van's stipulated rudder to elevator clearance, (x2).

Everyday is a learning day... Enjoy & move forward.
