Brief Description:  It's Fairing to Say...

Just more work on the gear leg fairings. This task entails a deviation from the plans. Although, "I Don't Have Facts to Back This Up", it appears the instructions were written while Vans was still supplying the older opaque fairings with their kits. The new gel-coated fairings cannot be easily seen through, which leaves the assembler how to best complete the task.

One of my major gripes with Van's plans is that they are rarely updated. Technical document management was one of my side jobs in the military; so, I know firsthand that this is not a hard thing to do - especially in the age of digital technology. But it is what it is… & we move forward.

I do not use a countersinking bit on my fiberglass or acrylic. I use a shaped grinding stone. The process is a bit slower but, it's safer. The stone warms the material as it grinds away. This aids in sealing the substance so there is little: Chipping, Stress Cracking or Builder's Trauma.
