One of the great things about assembling a project in your garage is that you're able to easily accomplish something nearly everyday. Grab your dog (very important), a cup of coffee & step out the door to your workshop.
This morning I wanted to knockout a few small task but, only had about ninety minutes of spare time before heading out for an appointment. A few months ago I mounted the transponder behind the panel & since then have thought about adding additional support to the unit. Yes, left alone the rack mounting would likely be fine. However, since the unit sits vertically I thought vibration may be an issue over time. My solution was a simple aluminum bar stock brace sandwiched between the MDF display & the transponder's rack. The MDF had a few unused 10-32 inserts on its backside & I had previously tapped a couple 6-32 holes in the rack's forward frame, that I ended up not using. So, I simply utilized those existing attachment points to secure the brace & complete the job.
A simple, yet rewarding early morning project.
