The gear leg stiffeners were shaped to fit the aft edge of each gear leg. I then added Pro Seal and attached to the gear, then taped into place to dry. This step provides a nice seal between the wood stiffener and the steel gear leg, and should prevent moisture from being trapped between the two materials.
